PPL (Parkdale Play & Leisure) Ltd of Skipton were delighted to be awarded the contract for a MUGA space for sport earlier this year.

Headteacher, Adrian Antell of Farnborough Road Junior School, Birkdale, Southport said he was keen to make the new area as spectacular as possible and to work with a contractor who had a good reputation with schools. Money had been raised by the community so it was vital that the right decision was made.

Work was finalised in October 2010 by PPL Ltd of Skipton and included a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) measuring 22.5m x 27m with an artificial grass surface.

There was a Grand opening attended by Steven Gerrard. The England player and Liverpool captain opened the area along with 900 children from 2 local schools who were delighted with their special visitor and their fabulous new MUGA.

Jacky’s Playground has finally been completed and looks absolutely fabulous!

Jacky Hunsley very generously, left Leeds Mencap a large sum of money in her will which has given us the fantastic opportunity to build a wonderful playground at the front of our East End Park building.

We wanted to use this donation in a way that would leave a lasting legacy in memory of Jacky and this fabulous addition to our building will be named Jacky’s Place in testimony to her generosity.

All the children (and the staff!) are having a wonderful time exploring this new and exciting area that has made such a difference to the whole building.

The official opening will be on Saturday 27th March 2010 when we look forward to welcoming Jacky’s family and friend to Leeds Mencap and we would love to see as many of our members and supporters there as well to help us celebrate this fantastic new addition to our East End Park Building.
